Hello

Dr. Anthony Walker is a Professional Counselor-Associate registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.  He earned his Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University February of 2025.

Anthony brings a strong background in human development and relational dynamics.  He received his PhD in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013 before spending 8 years as a professor at Indiana State University where he was recognized with nominations and awards for excellence in teaching, mentoring, supervising and research.

In addition to being a therapist, Anthony is Board Certified Life Coach through the Center for Credentialing Education, with over three years of international and national coaching experience specific to sex addiction recovery. Anthony is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Associate through the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals (IITAP) and is working towards the Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) designation. â€‹

My Story

Anthony is a graduate of Pendleton High School.  After traversing the country through Utah, Texas and Indiana, he is proud to once again call Oregon home.

Anthony works with both individuals and couples.  He characterizes his work as "balancing empathy with accomplishment" to support his clients to reach their goals.  He routinely works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment stressors, developmental trauma, PTSD, and substance abuse/dual-diagnosis.  Anthony also works with clients identifying with "men’s issues" (including sex addiction).

When working with couples, Anthony's practice combines his specialized training and experience to create a partner-sensitive, trauma-informed approach to working with men, women and couples impacted by communication concerns, attachment ruptures, betrayal, addiction (including problematic sexual behaviors).

Anthony draws from components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative and Existential Therapy approaches.  He is trained in BrainSpotting (an emerging trauma and addiction treatment) and has begun EMDR Level 1 Training.

Anthony enjoys community and family.  If not traveling to another tournament to cheer on his talented athletic daughter, he can be found enjoying the Shakespeare Festival with his wife of 23 years, or singing in his local choir.  Anthony is a fan of a good sci-fi/fantasy series...not to be out-done by College Football (his favorite season).  No longer living on flat land, Anthony has put back on the skis and can be found shredding the green and blue runs at Hoodoo and Willamette Pass (with much less abandon than he did as a youth).
